Through the use of a pressure sensor instrumented treadmill or forceplate or the Biodex Balance System, Sports Performance Lab (SPL) clinicians can identify deficits while performing a number of tasks including standing, single-leg standing and walking.
Biomechanical technology used: Zebris pressure sensor instrumented treadmill and/or Zebris pressure sensor sensored force plate with integrated high definition cameras or Biodex Balance System. Time: 45 minutes; cost $165 + GST
Through the use of high definition cameras, treadmill and force plate technology, Sports Performance Lab (SPL) clinicians gain a unique insight into potential faulty movement patterns that cannot be seen with the naked idea. This gives us valuable insights into the causes of many of the stresses and strains that lead to pain and the loss of function and mobility. Data collected can be compared to established norms helping to guide treatment and training programs to improve movement patterns.

Whilst we are designed to run, for a myriad of reasons few of us run free of pain. Be it impaired shock absorption, limited or excessive joint movements,or instability at the foot, knee or pelvis, small faults can manifest in painful and debilitating impairments.
Sports Performance Lab (SPL) offers a unique effective insight into running technique. Integrating the Zebris pressure sensored instrumented treadmill and multi directional Zebris high definition cameras, this assessment will give a useful overview of your running mechanics, identify apparent deficiencies and help develop strength and technique programmes to have you running at your best.
Biomechanical technology used: Zebris pressure sensor instrumented treadmill with 2-3 integrated high definition cameras. Time: 40 minutes; cost $130 + GST
This quick assessment highlights any glaring inconsistencies in running style or problem areas. Ideal for team screening and if necessary a more detailed analysis may be recommended for individual athletes.
Biomechanical technology used: Zebris pressure sensor instrumented treadmill with 2-3 integrated high definition cameras. Time: 20 minutes; cost $100 + GST
To find a solution, it is imperative to find out what the problem is. Running incorporates many movement systems. With the use of the Zebris pressure sensored treadmill, and SImi Aktysis 2D/3D Movement Analysis Systems, SPL clinicians can offer an in depth look at your running mechanics not available any where else in Australia. SImi Aktysis is a motion analysis system incorporating 2 high speed cameras and a unique LED Marker system that allows precise capture of joint movements and angles which can be quickly measured, analysed and recorded. When combined with information generated from the pressure sensored treadmill, this assessment opens a new and exciting view on your running form that will have you running fast, running free.
Biomechanical technology used: Zebris pressure sensor instrumented treadmill with integrated high definition cameras (2) utilising the Simi Aktysis 2D/3D analysis system. Time: 60 minutes; cost $240 + GST
In another Australian first, SPL offers the most in-depth and comprehensive running assessment available in the country by integrating the Biodex Isokinetic Dynamometer and the revolutionary Delsys Trigno EMG system together with the SImi Aktysis motion analysis system incorporating 2 high speed cameras and a unique LED Marker system that allows precise capture of joint movements and angles which can be quickly measured, analysed and recorded. The Biodex Isokinetic system allow SPL clinicians to precisely measure particular muscle groups strength and ability to generate torque while the EMG is used to measure muscle activity in order to determine if the athlete is using the appropriate muscle at the right time. Sports practitioners have long been aware of the importance of strong gluteal and hip control and its relevance to effective and efficient running. With this information SPL clinicians will be able to identify any deficits in key muscle groups and enable the targeted training programs to increase strength and symmetry. When combined with the Tier 2 running assessment, we offer an assessment previously only available to the world’s most elite athletes.

This purpose of this screening is to analyze Movement Patterns prior to an athlete participating in a chosen sport and identify movement system impairments that could pre dispose the athlete to injury..
Integrating the embedded force plate, 3D motion Analysis and Force plate equipped treadmill and EMG analysis, movement systems can be analysed in a series of screens appropriate to designated sport. Movement patterns and Shock absorption strategies can be closely analyzed . Training programs and strategies can then be developed and modified to improve movement patterns and reduce risk of injury. Time: 60 minutes; Cost $220 + GST
The idea of this screening is to determine an athletes readiness to return to sport after an injury.
This exam involves the combination of a running evaluation and a protocol of six sport-specific tests on the force plate. The force plate informs the clinician as to how well the athlete absorbs shock and when used in combination with high-speed video analysis, can also show the strategy the athlete uses. The Sports Performance Lab practitioner then uses this information to make recommendations on how the athlete can modify their movement patterns in order to prevent re-injury. This information is extremely important after injuries, particular ACL injuries. The aim is to reduce the risk of re tear but preferably avoid the injury in the first place. Time 60 minutes; Cost $220 + GST
This examination is targeted to any athlete involved in sports where jumping and landing is a common movement pattern. Using a force plate and a high speed 3D Motion Capture. Movement strategies, joint angles and the athletes ability to absorb shock are analyzed. Deficits and problematic movement patterns can then be identified and strategies to stabilize landing, improve shock absorption and increase jump height can be integrated in the athletes training programs. Time 20 minutes; Cost $90 + GST
Being able to tap into the body’s abundant natural fat stores is crucial to maintaining a lean body composition, high energy levels and going the distance in endurance events. The fuel efficiency test is a metabolic test that identifies the current health of your metabolism and allows our consultants to make recommendations on how to exercise and what to eat to enhance your ability to burn fat. Time: 60mins; cost $215 + GST
Having an efficient lactate clearing system is an important component of endurance training and racing. The lactate test allows our consultants to identify your lactate threshold and determine accurate personal heart rate training zones that you can apply to maximize the benefit of every session that you do. Time 60 mins; cost $235 + GST
A lean body composition is the cornerstone of good health and fast racing. The body composition test is a caliper test that allows our consultants to establish how much fat you currently store on your body. This number can be easily tracked over time and is far more accurate than measuring weight alone. Time 30 mins; cost $95 + GST
The VO2max test measures your body’s ability to consume oxygen during exercise. being able to effectively take in oxygen and deliver it to the muscles will enable you to swim, bike, run (etc) faster at a given effort. Time 60 mins; cost $235 + GST
